I am often inspired by nature, most especially “desolate” northern landscapes of subarctic tundra and taiga. Many of these paintings describe situations that take place in imaginary northern settings and involve relationships between people, animals, the weather, and other elements of nature such as water, wind, smoke, rocks, etc. I’m also drawn to ghosts, monsters, spirits and other elements of the supernatural, as well as angst-y themes of love, loss, and mortality.
