About The Workshop
I'm Carrie Bergman, and I'm obsessed with making little oil paintings that are tiny peepholes into distant, dreamlike, imaginary places. I used to make large-scale paintings, but have gradually shrunk things down to my typical current size of about 4 to 6 inches across, and I've been focusing my subject matter almost exclusively on the landscape for about 5 years.
My landscapes are only occasionally based on actual locations, and when they are, the reference is very loose. They depict simple, sparse, and desolate locations where something terrible or fantastic has happened, though the evidence of what occurred may now be almost totally obscured. I may or may not specify the stories behind each image.
2010 Painting Series
I have created a new series of little paintings each year since 2005.
New work will be previewed here and available for sale on Etsy when fully dry and ready to ship. 10 paintings are currently on the workbench, in various stages of completion. Because these things go slowly, I expect that nothing will be available before mid-February.
All previous work has sold, except for two paintings from the 2009 series (#8 and #10) which are still available in my Etsy shop.
